Hello. Im trying to make it a trend to update my journal at least once a year, haha. Yeah, im still here. I know, i havent submitted stuff in a while, but you probably have forgotten about me by now anyway! (I doubt anyone is even reading this...)
Anyway, I still lurk around on here despite my apparent absence, and I have noticed something that kinda peeves me off...
All these "original" characters floating around. Dont get me wrong, I love seeing original characters. In fact, I would much rather see some original stuff rather than the same ol' trendy anime fan-art. In double-fact, I suppose it is really the anime fan-art that I am really attacking here.
You see...here on Deviant Art I have come across some pretty good original stuff, and this makes me happy. But every once and a while I come across some very appalling "original" characters. You know the kind...yeah...those...
Anyway, it has come to my attention that there is a term for this attrocity! It is called a

[MARY-SUE]

Basically, a Mary-Sue is an "original" character that is exactly the same as half of the screaming fan-girl/fan-boy populations' "original" characters. Or in otherwords, an UNoriginal Character.

I found this pretty nifty quiz, actually, that tells you if your character is a Mary-Sue or not. Here it is:

You fill out some questions pertaining to your characters appearance, personality, past, habbits, origin, etc... and you push the button and you get a score which is then graded on a scale telling you exactly how original your character is.

My score was a 13, which is relatively low (71+ being considered bad).

And, a general announcement to everyone on DA: please please PLEASE keep the fan-art to a minimum. Great, we get it, you like Kingdom Hearts...but when your gallery is full of YAOI BISHIES ZOMG KAWAII!!!1 ^_~ it makes me doubt in mankind. Please dont make me doubt mankind...
